Obituary for Theodore Kenneth "Ted" Kingen

Theodore Kenneth "Ted"  Kingen
Mr. Theodore Kenneth Kingen. 93, passed away, quietly in the comfort of his home surrounded by the family that loved him dearly on Thursday evening October 26th, 2017. Ted was born on March 29th, 1924 to Mr. William Elder Kingen and Mrs. Josephine Mae Dowler.

He is preceded in death by a sister Mildred "Mid" Scott and two infant brothers.

Ted served in both the Coast Guard and the Army and is a WWII veteran.

He lived his entire life in Meadville where he married his surviving wife, Elva Marie Kingen (Garrison) on December 3, 1946. For almost 71 years they flourished in a loving union in which they are blessed with three children. Ted worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad (Conrail) for 41 years and together with his wife Marie they enjoyed a long retirement.

Ted had a passion for food and as a result he passed on his love of cooking, canning, and gardening to the family. He was fond of woodworking and playing cards, loved to visit with family, and always made time to help a stranger or friend in need.

His wonderful long life is cherished by children Judy M. Stanley(Jack) of Erie, Eleanor M."Ellie" Bradley(Joseph) of New Castle, and Theodore C."Ted" Kingen (Deirdre) of Meadville, seven Grandchildren, John Paglia (Anne Marie), Jason Paglia (Tricia), Jocelyn Trapani, Judith Harvey (James), Tawn Bartolomeo (Michael), Autumn Smith (Brian), and Matthew Kingen (Amanda), thirteen Great Grandchildren, two Great- Great Grandchildren, and a host of devoted Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Sunday, October 29th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 30th at 11:00am with Pastor Nate Alsdorf of Oasis Church, officiating.

Burial will take place in Greendale Cemetery with full military honors being performed by Heidikoper Post 2006 Color Guard.
