Obituary for John W. Yulich

John W.  Yulich
John W. Yulich, 70, of Hayfield Township, passed away after a short illness, on Thursday, January 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on April 25, 1947, in Patterson, NJ, son of the late John and Georgine Reigle Yulich.  He married his best friend, Carol Thomas Yulich on August 4, 1983, she survives. 

John was raised in Hummelstown, PA. He was a 1965 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School. John served in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer. Following his service, John joined the Pennsylvania State Capital Police Force. After 28 years of dutiful service, he retired to Crawford County, PA.

John was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 85, the National Fraternal Order of Police, and the American Legion Post 0265 in Hummelstown, PA. John was also a member of the National Rifle Association, St. Agatha Catholic Church, the Crawford County Historical Society, and the “Eat & Travel Club.” John was the former Committee Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 23 in Harrisburg, PA, and a former member of the Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers Club.

John was a loving husband and incredible father; an extraordinary example to his children and grandchildren. He was a talented poet, a veracious reader, a loyal friend. John was a man of great faith, and had an incredible ability to make people feel special about themselves. John W. Yulich dedicated his life to the service of others.
Survivors include the love of his life, Carol Thomas Yulich of Hayfield Township; daughter Lesley Benyo and her husband Ken of Latrobe, PA; two sons, John Yulich of Pittsburgh, PA and James Yulich of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Victoria, Paxton, and Connor Benyo; his sister, Deborah Paris of Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers-in-law John Thomas and his wife Judith of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Gary Schopfer of Harrisburg, PA; and two sisters-in-law Patricia Hickey and her husband Chet of Harrisburg, PA; and Rosemary Schopfer and her husband Craig of Harrisburg, PA; his very dear friends, Bill and Lisa Nulph, and closest friend for over 50 years, Keith Horning. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Harvey Reigle, brother-in-law, Michael Paris, and sister-in-law, Jean Thomas Schopfer. 

Friends and family are invited to call at the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335, on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. with Parochial Vicar Rev. Thomas Trocchio officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 1087 Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335 or to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
