Obituary for Beryl L. Rose

Beryl L. Rose, 100, died peacefully, on November 18, 2022, at Corry Manor where she was a resident since March of 2020. She was born in Corry on June 28, 1922 a daughter of Lawrence Harper and Opel Patchon Harper. She married Lawrence C. Rose on March 26, 1940 together they ran a small dairy farm in Union Township.

She was a homemaker and supplemented the family income by working for fruit and potato farms in the area and cleaning houses for local families. Beryl enjoyed working on jig-saw puzzles and playing card games. She was known for her skills in embroidery, baking bread, pies, and Christmas cookies.

Beryl is survived by two daughters; Virginia (Rose-Wiggers) Austin of Parsons, TN, Mary Ann (Rose) McCray and her husband C. Olin of Elgin; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and fifteen great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband; Lawrence, she was preceded in death by four daughters; Janet (Arden) Howell of Lexington, NC, Frances (Raymond) Wiggers of Corry, F. Marie (Jerry Lilley) Rose of Corry, and Jacqueline (William) Davis of Pittsburgh, PA.; a sister; Beatrice (Chuck) Redenz of Columbus; a brother; Archie (Thelma) Harper of Spartansburg; two grandsons; Marcus Howell and Charles McCray; four son-in-laws, Roger Wiggers, Jerry Lilley, Lyn Austin, and Marcus Howell.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd at 1:30 pm at McCray Church, 19470 PA-89, Corry, with Pastor Edward Rose, officiating.

Beryl will be laid to rest in McCray Cemetery, Corry.
