Obituary for Bonnie J. Waid (Deeter)

Bonnie Jean Shorts Dupont Waid, 92, of Townville, PA, went to be with Jesus and her loved ones on March 3, 2019. She was born on August 24, 1926 at Deckards Run, Cochranton, PA, the eldest daughter of Russell M. and Eathel B. Wagoner Deeter. On January 1, 1947, she married William “Bill” Shorts, their marriage ended in 1960, she then married, Clair “Bill” Dupont in 1961, then on December 6, 1986, she married her beloved, David N. Waid at the Presbyterian Church in Meadville, he survives.

She attended Cochranton Area Schools and Kent State Campus in Canton, Ohio. She set up an office in her home in Waynesburg, Ohio, doing bookkeeping, accounting, income taxes and notary work. She and David went to Florida in 1986 to care for her elderly parents while working as a cashier at Red Lobster and working for the Fish and Wildlife at Jupiter Florida. After her father passed they came back to PA. Bonnie then started an Amish Taxi service for many Amish families who were very dear to her. She also took care of her mother, Eathel Deeter and her Aunt Margaret for several years up until their passing. She enjoyed driving friends and loved ones to the doctors, shopping, reading, cooking, crocheting, traveling in the motor home to Florida most winters, and doing sewing alterations for anyone who had a need.

Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church, past member of the Townville Fire Department Auxillary, Perian Club, Senior Citizens and a Chaplin for the Steuben Grange.

She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, her many pets, and especially loved and grieved the loss of her little Chihuahua, Little Bit.

In addition to her loving husband, David, she is survived by a son, William “Rick” Shorts of Townville; a daughter in law, Nancy Shorts of Ohio; three step children, Mary Waid Tatro, Linda Waid and Bruce Waid and his wife, Lana; five grandchildren, Tonya Ross and her fiancé, Tim Fultz, Michelle Blair and her husband, Todd, Nicole McMaster and her fiancé, David Gnomes, Scott Shorts, and Keith Shorts and his fiancé, Shannon Campano; nine step grandchildren, Lauren Pisanelli, Laurie Shorts, David, Jason, and Rachel Tatro, April, Joshua, and Adam Martin and Antonia Harvey; thirteen great grandchildren, Amber Presock and her husband, Leroy, Brach Fultz, Tyler, and Jacob McMaster, Katlyn and Scott Shorts, Jr., Tiffany, Alexis, and Aubrey Shorts, Bennett Keske and Mackenzie, Emma ad Johnathan Blair; three great great grandchildren, Grace McClelland, Hannah McClelland and Brodie Presock; a sister Anna J. Deeter Middleton, AKA Barbara; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many many dear friends and a special sisterly friend, Saundra Ricketts.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Virgel and Russell M. Deeter, Jr.; a son, Ronald R. Shorts; a daughter in law, Arlene Shorts; a step-daughter, Janet Parsley and two ex-husbands.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 pm at the Townville Baptist Church, 33274 N. Main Street, Townville.
