Obituary for Bruno James Patrick "Pat" Matthews
Bruno "Pat" James Patrick Matthews, 72, of Franklin passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at UPMC Presbyterian.
Pat was born on February 13, 1950, in Venango County, to the late Carl Eugene, Sr. and June (Long) Matthews.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. He was later employed by the Quality Inn for many years where he served in the Maintenance Department.
Pat was an outdoors man, enjoying investing time hunting whitetail deer and fishing. He was a member of the Franklin Fraternal Order of Eagles #328 and the VFW Jesse G. Greer Post #1835. He was also a longtime patron of the Corner Pocket where he enjoyed shooting pool and socializing with his buddies. Pat enjoyed playing cards whenever the opportunity arose.
Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his sons; Pete Matthews and his wife, Kristine of Franklin and Keith Eugene Matthews and his significant other, Susan Griffin of Franklin; his grandchildren, Brett Matthews, Kyle Matthews, and Elizabeth Knight; as well as several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Paul Matthews and his wife, Diane, of Hamburg and Carl Matthews of Titusville; his sisters, Florena Witherup and her husband, Walt of Kennerdell, and Judy Porter and her husband, Jack of Hamburg; his step-father, Raymond Wagner; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his long-time companion, Loretta Schwimmer.
A memorial service for Pat will announced at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
