David V. Hengle, 75, of Bland VA, passed away Tuesday August 2, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was born May 30, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of John F. Hengle and Elvira Heid Hengle.
He was a Vietnam Veteran with the United States Army and a Combat Medic in the 9th Division, 1st of 11th. He worked as a truck driver and retired as a maintenance mechanic for US Army Corp. of Engineers for Tionesta Dam.
David was a Disabled Vietnam Veteran who served honorably as a combat medic. He loved to travel and especially loved to spend time with his family, grandkids and great grandkids. He was a huge outdoor enthusiast and loved to hike. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and was an artist (wood carving, epoxy work, leather-work) he loved to cook and grill and play the guitar.
He married Carol Ann Faunce, August 30, 1968 and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2001. Together they raised two children, Joseph(Paula) Hengle of Edinboro and Michelle Tabb with which whom he lived in Bland Virginia; grandchildren include Shawna Oakes, Shianne Tabb, Lilliana Hengle, Cecilia Hengle; great grandchildren Jacob Price, Jazymn Smith, Serenity Smith, Selena Smith and Opal Starling; sister, Dorothy "Mae" Logan of Norwalk, Ohio; brothers, Alan Hengle of Reston, Virginia and Robert Hengle of Cleveland, Ohio
In addition to his loving wife, Carol, he is preceded in death by son David John Hengle; an infant son; sister Elizabeth"Bette" Maynard; brother John "Jackie" Hengle.
Burial will take place in Diamond Cemetery, next to his beloved wife.
A Celebration of Life Picnic (memorial) will be held on August 26th at Conneaut Township Park (Upper Pavilion), in Conneaut, Ohio. It will be held from 3pm to dusk . Family and friends are welcomed to attend.
