Obituary for David E. "Dave" Jacobs

David E. Jacobs, 71, of Conneaut Lake, died on August 02, 2023 at home after a long illness. He was born in Meadville to the late Rosie M. (Locke) Nichols and George E. Jacobs on July 26, 1952. David married Mary Beth Kroko on October 26 1974. She survives.

David graduated from Meadville Area Senior High school in 1970. He then graduated from Slippery Rock State College (chemistry) in 1974 and later graduated from Pennsylvania State University, Behrend College with a MBA. During college he worked at Meadville Malleable and Conneaut Lake Park. He worked for Lord Corporation in Saegertown and Erie, PA for 40+ years retiring in 2015.

David was one of the founding members of the Conneaut Lake Area Ambulance Service. He previously was an emergency medical technician and served as Treasurer, and member of the board of directors of that organization. Over the years, he coached youth soccer and senior league baseball in Conneaut Lake. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and especially his love of Aquariums and pond fish which was a hobby he took part in his entire life.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by two sons, Timothy J. Jacobs (Leslie Jacobs) of Lancaster, PA and Daniel E. Jacobs DMD (Arielle Jacobs DMD) of Scarsdale, NY; two granddaughters, Zoe and Alana; two brothers, Allen C. Jacobs (Joyce) of Atlantic and Bruce E. Nichols Jr. of Meadville; five sisters, Ginger K. (Jacobs) Hobson, Naples, FL, Diane L. Nichols Walker (Phil) of Meadville, Sharon L. Nichols Krider (John) of Meadville, Rose Nichols of Erie, and Julie Nichols Chimiak of Linesville, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Bruce E Nichols Sr.; and his stepmother Barbara E. Jacobs (Garvin).

The family would like to thank David's transplant donor, the Cleveland Clinic Transplant Team, Dr. Wayne Tsuang, and Dr. Robert Bazylak. His transplant gave him six more years of life and allowed him to meet his youngest granddaughter.

A memorial service will be announced in the coming weeks.
