Obituary for Evelyn B. Stephens

Evelyn B. Stephens, 88, of Meadville, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 17, 2020 at Juniper Village. She was born on October 13, 1931 in Conneaut Lake a daughter of Eugene Shaw and Nellie Cotton Shaw. She married Richard Stephens, he preceded her in passing on June 30, 2013.

She had been employed at the former Mead Nursing Home on Park Avenue Ext. for several years in the 1970's and retired from Visiting Nurses Association of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Evelyn loved being with her family and her little dog, Joeie.

She was a member of Park Congregational Church, Thurston Rd. Meadville where she served in several capacities.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Edward) Burnet of Meadville and Renee (David) Hayes of Saegertown; two sons, Ronald (Susan) First of Meadville and Randall (Yolanda) First of Conneautville; grandchildren, Connie (Mark) Fletcher of Hamonsburg, Shawn (Chris) First of Conneautville, Joshua First of Conneautville, Daniel First of Conneautville, Sommer Alexander of Meadville, Nicholas (Susan) Hayes of Erie, and Travis Hayes of Erie; and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and Robert Shaw; and a son, Richard First.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Juniper Village of Meadville for the past 6 years of caring for their loved one and to Kindred Hospice as well.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, August 20th from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 12:30pm with Rev. Alice McClymonds, officiating. For those comfortable with attending we will be adhering to CDC Guidelines.

Private burial will take place at a later date in Denny Cemetery, Hayfield Township.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's memory to Kindred Hospice, 1119 Park Ave., #107 Meadville, PA 16335 or Juniper Village, 455 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
