Obituary for Helen J. Smith

Helen Jean Smith, 85, of Meadville, passed away, August 19, 2022 at the residence of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 18, 1937 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Glenn Anthony and Jean Packer Anthony.

She was graduate of Susquehanna High School, and was employed at the Meadville Elks Club as the Banquet Manager and later she was employed with Value City.

Helen was the family caregiver taking care of her grandchildren whenever needed, the family pets, her mother, and brother. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking, watching game shows (especially Jeopardy, you never called her between the times of 7:30pm and 8:00pm). She loved to sew, made wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and many Halloween costumes and so much more for her family Her christian faith was very important to her and was something she instilled in her family.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca Crawford of Meadville, Elaine (Jim) McKalip of Meadville, Melissa (George) Doughty of Meadville, Robert (Jeanne) Smith, Jr. of Meadville, Kimberly Smith of Lacey, Washington, and Tami (Danny) Davis of Cumberland, Virginia; grandchildren, Alex and Louis Crawford, Joshua, Jeremy, and Hannah Murkens, Kylee, Kelsie, and Jamie McKalip, Ryan Smith, Sara Pitts, Mary Ann Biqusiak, Brandon, Reigher, Treyner, Yardley, Elora, and Aubrey Doughty, and Brigitt Breeden; thirteen great grandchildren; her brother Tom (Nancy) Anthony; her sister Linda(Milton) Graham; many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dick; life partner, Patrick; a daughter, Rhonda; a son in law, Billy; and a grandson, Trey.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with a small ceremony at 3:00pm at Meadville Railroad Depot(Former Meadville Farm & Garden), 136 Mead Ave, Meadville.

Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
