Obituary

Howard J. Tenney, 92, formerly of Saegertown, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Rolling Fields Elder Care Community.
He was born on November 16, 1926 in Sandy Lake, PA; a son of the late Abel S. and Agnes A. Hays Tenney.
He attended a one room school house in Deer Township and then continued his education at Cochranton High School.
Howard joined the service during WWII as an Army Engineer and was stationed in the Philippine Islands. After being honorably discharged he returned home and became employed by Westinghouse/Sunbeam in Meadville. Because of love of the outdoors, he then became a logger with a career lasting more than 40 years. He subsequently worked for Newcomb Lumber, Fiest Hardwoods and Baird Brothers, all of Ohio.
On June 14, 1947 he married Louise M. Kurt. Together they established Pine Ridge Stables in 1968, providing equestrian services for over 35 years to the Meadville Area.
On August 6, 2013, after 66 years of marriage, Louise preceded him in death.
Howard was an avid reader, becoming especially knowledgable of the American Civil War. He also enjoyed woodworking and square dancing with Louise in their younger years as members of the Kon Yaught Kickers.
He was a member of St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church in Saegertown.
Howard is survived by four children, Regina A. King and her husband Edward, of Saegertown; Rebecca L. Mosley and her husband Dennis of Farmdale, Ohio; H. Michael Tenney and his wife Patricia of Walworth, NY; and Mark J. Tenney of Saegertown. Nine grandchildren, Rachel (Matthew) Marcelle of Manassas, VA; Amanda (Richard) Nay of St. Johns, FL; Sara (Matthew) Jaros of Saegertown; Jason (Tracy) King of Erie; Gregory Mosley of Farmdale, Ohio; Kevin Mosley (Amanda) of Kinsman, Ohio; Matthew Tenney of Butler, PA; Jonathan Tenney of Ithaca, NY; and Zachary (Robin) Tenney of Stafford, VA; 18 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mildred Kurt of Erie; a daughter-in-law Susan (Sam) Stoudt of Venango, PA and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by and infant son, Jerome, an infant great grandson, Nathaniel, four sisters, Dorothy, Mabel, Audrey and Geraldine and two brothers, Vernon and Charles.

The family would like to express gratitude for the kindness of the staff at Rolling Fields and the caring guidance of Hospice of Crawford County.

The Tenney family has been in my heart and life for 39 years. I treasure the memories of listening to and sharing stories in their kitchen for hours, and how they welcomed me into their family. In my mind's eye, I can still see Mr. T's eyes light up and hear his laugh. I'm thankful for his long, happy life, and the knowledge that he and Mrs. T are once again together.
