Obituary for James T. Briggs

James "Jim" T. Briggs, 81, of Union City, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born on December 16, 1940 in Waterford, a son of the late Kenneth and Hazel Tudor Briggs.

He was a graduate of Fort Leboeuf High School where he was a member of the wrestling team.
Jim served in the United States Army SP4 Signal Corp and as a member of the color guard.

In 1966 he began working at Kaiser Aluminum which later became Accuride where he was involved in the heat treat process as a member of UAW local 1186.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, racing at Eriez Speedway, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles with his family.

He married Rita J. Earll Morgan on December 27, 1991. They enjoyed many years of traveling around the country and camping before she preceded him in death on June 9, 2017. He also took many fishing trips with his good friends to Canada and other locations.

Jim was a long-time member of the Union City American Legion and Moose Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Lorri Briggs (Ken Ranyak) of Union City, and Deanna Keith (Richard) of Ocean View, Delaware; three sons, Kenneth Briggs (Cheryl), Jeffery Briggs, and Matthew Briggs (Jill Snyder) all of Erie; one stepson, James Morgan, Jr. of Union City; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Susan Butler(John) of Rockingham, North Carolina; and one brother, Raymond Briggs (Linda) of Erie.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, John Briggs, Robert Briggs, and Ronald Briggs; a sister, Judith Briggs; and a step-daughter, Susan D. Morgan.

Friends and family are welcome to call on Tuesday, November 29th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62. S. Main Street, Union City. There will be an additional hour of calling from 10am til the time of the service at 11am on Wednesday, November 30th at the funeral home.
