Obituary for Joan C. Bell

Joan C. Bell, 79, of Canadohta Lake, formerly of McMurray, Pennsylvania, passed away, Monday, August 22, 2022 at Meadville Medical Center. She was born on May 18, 1943 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania a daughter of John Harty and Naomi Snyder Harty. She married "Bob" Charles Robert Bell III on June 11, 1966.

She was a 1961 graduate of Saint Luke High School and self-employed with her husband operating Bell Business Services, Inc. She also was an executive assistant at US Steel and her most important job was taking care of her family.

Joan was a devoted catholic, and served her community through being a leader of Campfire Girls as well as being active in the Peters Township Parent Teacher Association.

She enjoyed gardening, decorating for every holiday, coloring, crafts, cooking, baking, and was a dog lover.

Joan is survived by her husband, Bob of Canadohta Lake; two daughters, Christine Bell of Canadohta Lake and Melissa Bell Chait and her husband Marcus of Half Moon Bay, California; a son, John R. "J.R." Bell and his wife Gina of Washington, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Zoe and Brody Chait, and Anthony Bell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donald, Raymond, and Fred Harty; and a sister, Rose Marie McCreanor.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday, August 27th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Saint Teresa of Avila Church, 9 3rd Ave., Union City, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 pm with Father Matthew Strickenberger, pastor, as celebrant.

Private burial will take place in Saint Teresa Cemetery, Union City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joan's memory to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 (www.stjude.org) or a charity of donor's choice.
