Joyce Robbins Barteldt, 94, of London, Ohio, formerly of Union City, passed away, August 29, 2022. She was born in Rochester, New York, December 28, 1927, the daughter of the late Ralph and Violet King Robbins.
She graduated from Brighton High School, Rochester, New York in 1946. After graduating from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, in 1950 with an BA degree in sociology, she worked at Sibley, Lindsay and Curr in Rochester in the employment and personnel department.
She married Donald Barteldt on May 4, 1952. They lived in Sodus, New York until they moved to Union City, Pennsylvania in 1958. Joyce’s main priority for several years was raising and caring for their two sons. Later, she joined Don in the family-owned Ben Franklin Store in Union City where they worked together until their retirement in 1982. They had been married 46 years when Mr. Barteldt passed away in 1998. Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Union City, where she served as historian, on the Board of Trustees, Administrative Board, Pastor-Parish Relations, Finance and Communion committees.
She was also a member of the Board of Incorporators of the Union City Memorial Hospital where she served on the personnel committee.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Richard Barteldt and his wife, Barbara of London, Ohio; her son, William Barteldt and his wife, Sharon of Waterford; four grandchildren, Jason Barteldt and his wife, Jessica of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Rechelle Kennedy and her husband, Mike of Rospraver Township, Pennsylvania, Jonathan Barteldt and his wife, Michaela of Columbus, Ohio, and Brandon Kuhn and his wife, Shannon of Wooster, Ohio; a sister, Roxane Chadwick and her husband, Gary of Fairport, New York; and a sister-in-law, Susanna Robbins of Columbus, Ohio.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Union City First United Methodist Church, 42 East High Street, Union City. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Lea Guiney, officiating.
Joyce will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery.
