Maxine E. Holzer, 85, of Meadville, passed away, Saturday, December 12, 2020 unexpectedly at her residence. She was born on May 4, 1935 in Geneva, Pennsylvania a daughter of Alfred Grinnell and Kathryn Anthony Grinnell. She married George O. Holzer on September 14, 1957. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2018.
She was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and was a member of Saint Brigid Roman Catholic Church where she served with the Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Maxine had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping others. She was both President and Vice-President of the Women's American Legion in Meadville as well as both President and Vice-President of the Eagles Club in Meadville. She also served people in need at the YWCA Thanksgiving dinners.
Maxine loved her children and was extremely grateful to have four wonderful grandchildren. She will be remembered for her lively personality and witty responses. She was strong and resolute, while extending a helping hand where she saw need.
She is survived by two sons, David Holzer and his wife Cheryl of Ohio and Ernie Holzer and his wife Kate of Ohio; four grandchildren; five special nieces, Rose, Sharon, Bridget, Robyn and Terri; and a special nephew, Gary.
In addition to her husband, George, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Holzer; seven sisters; and four brothers.

Burial will take place in Saint Agatha Cemetery, Meadville.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made in Maxine's memory to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335.
