Obituary for Nancy L. Bowman

Nancy J. (Wilcox) Bowman, passed away, peacefully at Marquette Hospice House on Saturday June 5th, 2021 after a one year battle with lung cancer. She was born in Townville, Pennsylvania to Harold and Amelia (Steinhoff) Wilcox on August 6th, 1938.

She attended the former Randolph / East Mead High School.

She married Daniel A. Bowman Sr. on June 11, 1966. He preceded her in death in March of 1998.
She has been a long time member of Bible Baptist Church of Meadville and a member of their ladies’ fellowship group “The Prayer Sisters”

She retired from Crawford Central School District and during retirement enjoyed subbing occasionally at her church’s Foundation Christian School, where she made a birthday cake for every student on their birthday for years.

She loved spending time with her family and was an exceptional cook, she enjoyed cooking & baking for everyone, especially big holiday meals and church dinners. In more recent years she enjoyed going on casino bus trips, playing bingo, and socializing at Active Aging of Meadville.

She is survived by her daughter Diann Bolharsky of Meadville, PA, two sons Daniel Bowman Jr.and his wife Lisa of Jackson, AL. and Conrad Beaman and his wife Maria of Erie, PA. Four Granddaughters, Mindy Allen and her fiancé Zach DeVaul of Meadville, Monica Confer & her husband Patrick of Meadville, Amanda Hobson of Pensacola FL. and Sally Bowman of Jackson, AL. Two grandsons, Troy Bowman and his wife Emma of Erie, PA and Cory Bowman and his wife Margaret of Virgina Beach, VA. Eight great-grandchildren, Allyson Zolnai, Abigail Zolnai, Jordan Unger, Leah Confer, Natalee Confer, Ainsley Bowman, Hazel Bowman, and Lucy Hobson. Her nephew Randy Wilcox and his wife Cheryl of Meadville ,who were always there to help her, and Eddie DeVore, who she thought of as a son, also of Meadville, PA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, two sets of stillborn twin daughters, her loving companion in her later years Edward DeVore and his son Dave DeVore, her parents Harold & Amelia Wilcox and all eight of her siblings, Adele Griggs, Kathryn Coulson, Jean Wood, Marian McClellan, Jack Wilcox, Robert Wilcox, George Wilcox, and Harold Wilcox, Jr.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, June 7th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville and on Tuesday, June 8th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.

Burial will be at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

The family would like to thank Marquette Hospice House, Meadville Ambulance Service, Meadville Medical Center, Dr. Martin Decker, and Dr. Sean Unice for the care and comfort they provided to Nancy over the past year.
