Obituary for Paul E. Kirk

Paul E. Kirk, 85, of Cambridge Springs, passed away, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Meadville Medical Center. Paul was born on March 16, 1934, in Blooming Valley, PA, son of the late George T. and Belva Roudebush Kirk. He married Charlotte Steadman on June 19, 1954, she survives.

Paul loved sports and was active in baseball and basketball in school until he was stricken with polio in 1950. Not being able to play ball anymore he coached Babe Ruth League teams and then independent baseball and basketball teams. Paul was a loyal Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steeler Fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR and Jeff Gordon #24. He was an honest person and his word was his bond. Paul was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Cambridge Springs. He graduated from Townville High School in 1952. He firsted worked at Rex Carpenter Meat Packing Company, then Saegertown Components, Gertrude Barber Center, and finally Meadville Forging Company where he retired after 22 years. He was also employed part time by SKAT Gas Station, in Cambridge Springs and 20 years at Petersons Auto Supply.

In addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, Charlotte, Paul was survived by his two daughters Louise Shearer and her husband Paul of Tampa, FL; and Kay Dunton and her husband Dwight of Cambridge Springs; two sons, Larry Kirk of Cambridge Springs and Barry Kirk and his wife Renee of Saegertown; also 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in passing by his parents, brothers: Lloyd George, Edwin, Elton, David, Reverend Theodore, and Reverend Arthur Kirk; sisters: Martha Burchard, Margaret Held and Doris Cole and nieces Marilyn Dine and Donna Stallsmith.

Per Paul's request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be private at Kingsley Cemetery in Townville.

The family sincerely thanks the Crawford County Care Center for the wonderful care they provided Paul his last few years. Also they thank Pastor Rod Beardsley for faithfully visiting Paul and sharing prayers and an occasional joke.

Arrangements are in the care of Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

Dear Charlotte and girls, so sorry to hear about Paul. I wish I would have made it over to see him when I thought about him a few weeks ago. I know dad visited him when he would go over to see people at the Crawford County Care Center. I'm not sure I knew he had worked at the slaughterhouse, but that would be how mom and dad knew you guys! I have many happy memories of laughing with you two! My deepest sympathies to all Paul's family! He was a wonderful person, and will be missed by all who knew him. Many of the members of the Class of "52 will be there to greet him in heaven and chat over old time fun together!
