Obituary for Ruth Wilma Higley (Hotz)
Ruth Wilma Higley, 87, of Centerville, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 19, 2022.
Born on March 4, 1935, in Glenshaw, PA, she was the daughter of the late, Ralph Wilbur and Ethel Wilma (Feather) Hotz.
She married the love of her life, Milo James Higley, on July 25, 1951 and they were married for 65 years. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2017.
Ruth enjoyed selling Avon and Tupperware, getting to know local community members. She loved to bake bread, pies, and made the best cinnamon rolls.
Ruth enjoyed playing cards, working on crafts and telling childhood stories. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Sharon Higley of Lawrenceville, PA; Gina Hotchkiss and her husband, Steve, of Union City, PA; and Patricia Brandon and Jule Redick, of East Hickory, PA; her two sons, Randy Higley and his wife, Nancy, of Erie, PA; and Darryl Higley and Martha Lee, of Tower City, PA; and her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is further survived by her son-in-law, Frank Messina of Spartansburg, PA and her brother-in-law, Joe Janukites of Fenelton, PA.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Messina; her great granddaughter, Breanna Higley; her sisters, Janet Janukites, Rose Janukites and brother-in-law Bill; her brother, Ralph Hotz and sister-in-law, Stella.
Ruth's family would like to give a special "Thank You" to her wonderful caregivers Doris Miller and Kira Dorn and the fantastic staff at Crawford County Hospice and Active Aging for the care and support given to Ruth and her family.
Services will be private for the family and close friends.
