Obituary for Sue Ellen Freeberg (Kemp)

Sue Ellen Freeberg, 64, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at her home. Daughter of the late Leslie and Jane McGrew Kemp, she was born on July 3, 1956 in New Castle, PA. She married her best friend J. Robert Freeberg on May 24, 2003; he survives.

Sue Ellen graduated from Neshannock High School, Class of 1974 in New Castle, PA prior to studying technical drafting. She then received her LPN for nursing from the Crawford County Vo-Tech. She retired after 17 years as an LPN at Polk Center, where she left a legacy of caring for others that defined who she was. Sue Ellen was a member of the VFW, a former leader of the Girl Scouts, and a member of the Mothers of Twins Club. She enjoyed needlework, crosswords, bingo, trips to the beach, and collecting miniature dollhouse decor. She was a mother to many, who enjoyed spending time with her family above all else. Anyone who knew Sue Ellen was met with a kind, gentle, and accepting spirit.

Survivors include her beloved husband J. Robert Freeberg of Meadville; three daughters, Halle Holm and her husband Peter of WA, Lindsay Marsteller and her husband Donnie of Meadville, Cory Fritz of Meadville; her son Michael Fritz and his wife Alyssa of Harrisburg; her stepchildren Sunshine Linzi and her husband Tom, Cory Kautchick, Elissa Geiger and her husband Philip, Kelly Freeberg, and Kristyn Holmes and her husband Greg; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Kemp and his wife Louise of PA, and Bill Kemp and his wife Linda of Erie; her aunt Janet McGrew of SC; 8 nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Baxter.

In addition to her parents, Sue Ellen was preceded in death by her sister Sheryl Kemp-Dodds.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335 has been entrusted with the care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd, Meadville, PA 16335.

Sad to hear the news of the passing of Sue Ellen. She was a fellow classmate at Neshannock schools for 12 years and I remember her as always kind with a smile for everyone. Sympathies to her family, especially her brother Paul who was a much admired upperclassman and teammate.
