Twila Carpenter, 84, of Townville passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. She was born on April 27, 1935 in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Eugene Agens and Jessie Myers Agens. She married John Dennis “Dennie” Carpenter on June 1, 1957. He preceded her in death in 1987.
She was a 1954 graduate of Townville High School and was employed as a secretary for Townville High School, a bookkeeper for the family farm and Townville United Methodist Church, and was store manager of Hanna’s Red and White.
Twila was a member of Townville United Methodist Church and a part of the church choir. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, taking trips to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, collecting dolls, country music, and square dancing.
Twila is survived by a son, John Carpenter and his companion Loretta Damron of Grove City, OH; daughter, Robin Rogers of Meadville; four grandchildren, Kari Carpenter, Ryan Carpenter and wife Katie, Cory Rogers, and Casey Rogers and fiancee Courtney McGraw; three great grandchildren, Ainslee, Jameson, and Camlin Carpenter; a sister, Oral Howard of Hardy, VA; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Porter of West Springfield, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, David Agens; a son-in-law, Daniel Rogers; a brother-in-law, James Carpenter and his wife Kathy; and a brother-in-law, Harold Porter.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Townville United Methodist Church, 33279 N. Main Street, Townville, with Pastor Frank Weingard officiating.
Burial will be at Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of dolls or toys be made in her memory to Toys for Tots or that donations be made in her memory to Townville United Methodist Church, 33279 N. Main Street, Townville.
