Obituary for Virginia Mae Brown (Roha)

Virginia Mae (Roha) Brown, 96, of Meadville, passed away on Sunday June 26, 2022 at Juniper Village, Meadville where she had been a resident for 7 months.

Born on November 23, 1925, in East Mead Township, Crawford County, a daughter of the late Victor and Myrtle (Boyles) Roha.

Virginia was a 1943 graduate of Meadville High School.

She married James Brown on September 11, 1943 at St. Hippolyte Church in Frenchtown, PA. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1997.

Virginia retired from Sears & Roebuck, Meadville, after 30 years of service. She was also a member of the Meadville Women's Club.

Virginia was fiercely independent. She would often say "I could complain, but who would listen"? She was the wife of a dairy farmer, who had farmed for 50 years without the help of hired hands, except for family who helped. She would help make hay, had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed canning and freezing it all. She worked full time outside the home for whatever it took.

She lived at home until the last 7 months of her life. Virginia enjoyed playing cards, particularly Euchre, and always had pies on hand for guests. She was also well known for her Cut Out Holiday cookies. She especially liked a good political discussion and had a generosity that extended to all.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Roha; her sisters, Alberta Williams, Dorothy Adams, Shirley Hollern, Donna Garrison, Connie Brown; and grandson-in-law, Chad Peters.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kimberly S. Wood (Tim) of Saegertown and Karen Niemann (Ron) of Linesville; her grandchildren, Stacey Lowing (Tim) of Waynesville, OH, Kurt Ferguson (Janet) of Doylestown, PA, Leslie Peters Casale (Neil) of Lititz, PA, Kimberly A. DeAngio (Tony Valente) of Suffolk, VA and Jasmin Hanstine (Lee) of Saegertown; her great-grandchildren, Cade Lowing, Clay Lowing, Morgan Lowing, Madelyn Ferguson, Kendyl Peters, Nolan Peters, Griffin Peters, Staff Sgt. Cameron J. Beams (Mary), Cody Beams, Leeona Smail (Jimi) and her great-great grandchild, Gabriella Rose Beams. She is further survived by her sister, Joan Allen; and her companion, Paul Tieche.

Friends are invited visitation at the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. Funeral services for Virginia will be held the same day immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm with Fr. Joseph Petrone officiating.

Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Linesville Food Pantry c/o St. Philips Catholic Parish, 401 South Mercer Street, Linesville, PA 16424.
