Obituary for William "Bill" D. Groover Sr.

William "Bill" D. Groover Sr, 76, of Conneaut Lake, passed away, Saturday, April 10, 2021 unexpectedly at his residence. He was born on July 17, 1944 in Meadville, a son of John E. Groover and Virginia Green Groover. He married E. Judy Deeter on August 21, 1965. She survives.

He was a 1963 graduate of Meadville Area High School and also attended school for Tool and Die.

Bill was employed in the Tool and Die industry his entire life and he retired from Canto Tool Corporation as a lathe specialist in 2008.

He was an active member at First Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and was part of the church choir.

Bill was a life time member of Meadville Rescue Squad as well as a member of Vernon Central. He was an active member of the Blue Jean Group/Class of 1963. He enjoyed camping, gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family. When he was very young he was known for walking up Park Avenue with his dog in a little red wagon.

In addition to his loving wife, Judy; he is survived by two daughters, Renee A. Anderson and her husband Richard of Meadville and Susan J. Groover of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Robert A. Groover and his wife Jodie of Cochranton and Doug Groover and his wife Michele of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Sylvia, Sharday, James, Dillon, Devin, Lilly, Natalie, Brooke, and Emma; five great grandchildren; a brother in law, William Deeter and his wife Darcee of Meadville; a special cousin, Pat Baussman of Meadville; his life long friend Jerry Walton and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anne Hefferman and Betty Erwin; and one brother, John Groover.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11 am. Service will be held at First Baptist Church 353 Chestnut Street, Meadville, Pennsylvania. If you are unable to attend, you may join live online via First Baptist Church Facebook page. A luncheon for all will follow at the church.
