Obituary for William "Bill" L. Yochum

William “Bill’ L. Yochum, 80, of Meadville, passed away, Friday, April 19, 2019 at his residence after a battle with ALS. He was born on January 8, 1939 in Meadville a son of Louis Yochum and Margaret Hefferman Yochum. He married Ruth M. Schrubb she preceded him in death on March 23, 2007. He subsequently married Nellie Greenlee Caryl on June 13, 2009.

He was employed with Greenleaf, GTI, CPT in Franklin, and retired after 20 years from Volvo in Dublin, VA and Greensboro, N.C. as a design engineer for trucks. He lived in Fancy Gap, Virginia for 20 years before relocating back to Meadville in 2007.

Bill was a US Army Veteran and attended Saint Marks Church, Cochranton.

He was a member of Classic Iron Hot Rod Club, enjoyed working outside, had hiked part of the Appalachian Trail, and was known for quoting his favorite bible verse John 3:16.

In addition to his loving wife, Nellie; Bill is survived by two step-daughters, Nichelle Rodgers and her husband Bob of Carlton and Tara DeLong and her husband Larry of Franklin; two step grandsons, Ethan Rodgers of Cambridge Springs and Tyler DeLong of Franklin; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; and parents.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, April 22nd from 10:00am to 11:00am at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Russell Hines of Saint Marks Church, officiating.

Private burial will take place in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Crawford County for all their compassion and care for Bill.

John and I really enjoyed Bill and Nellie's company and the evenings we have spent together, laughing and joking. Bill's sense of humor and laugh was contagious. I pray that God's arms will embrace you, Nellie, as you endure this difficult time.
