Obituary for Gordon G. Ward

Gordon G.  Ward
Gordon G. Ward, 84, of Union City, passed away, Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the family farm surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Union City on October 9, 1933 a son of George Dewitt Ward and Lena Blanchard Ward. He met the love of his life Marian Catherine Lucas while square dancing and they married on December 28, 1957.

He was a 1952 graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School and following his graduation he served his country with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Gordon was a self-employed dairy farmer owning and operating Ward Dairy Farm for many years; he also worked construction, was a laborer at Penn Union, and served as Union Township Supervisor for 6 years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 237, Ag County Committee Member, served on the Erie Crawford Co-op Committee, Agway Committee, and was a devoted member of New Ireland United Methodist Church for 46 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending his retirement in Florida.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Marian of 60 years; a daughter, Gail Ward Kosienski and her husband Joseph of Union City; three sons, Gordon Ward, Gary Ward, Glenn Ward and his wife Stephanie all of Union City; six grandchildren, Josh Ward, Jacob Ward, Jolene Ward, Jordyn Kosienski, Jinelle Ward, and Jared Kosienski all of Union City; numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Pattison of Union City; and he was the favorite uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, January 3rd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at New Ireland United Methodist Church, 4996 Route 6, Union City. The funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday, January 4th at 11:00am with Pastor Terry Brown, officiating.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gordon's memory to New Ireland United Methodist Church, 4996 Route 6, Union City, PA 16438 or Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park Street, North East, PA 16428.

Arrangements are in the care of Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City.
