MEADVILLE - James Robert Troup, 87 of Meadville, passed away at the Crawford County Care Center, on January 29, 2016. He was born on February 21, 1928 in Elizabeth Township, a son of the late John F. Hester and Mary Stoneman Hester. His father passed away February 14, 1930. His mother later married Charles N. Troup who adopted James and his siblings.

He graduated from Bell Vernon High School class of 1946. He married Kathryn E. Okorn on July 3, 1947. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2006. They were married for 59 years.

James was employed by the Erie, Erie-Lackawanna and Conrail Railroads for 43 years retiring in 1990 as a section foreman.

James was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, John F. Troup and Charles N. Troup, Jr., and his sister, Sarah L. Campanio.

Survivors include his son, James R. Troup, his wife Sara of Meadville; daughter, Jane R. Lambert and husband G. David of York, PA; grandchildren Nathan L. Troup, Michael P. Andrews; Eric L. Andrews; April D. Andrews and Brittany J. Steffler. Great grandchildren, Micheala C. Andrews; Jaykob I. Gilson; and Justin Steffler.

He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a Lifetime member of the Meadville Club. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates and the Steelers. He also was a fan of the Pitt Panthers Sports Teams.

Friends and family are welcome to call Thursday, February 4th, 2016, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335, a service will be held there Friday, February 5th, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. with Larry Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd, Meadville, PA 16335; or to the Salvation Army, 1087 Park Ave, Meadville, PA 16335.
