I am a retired Deputy in Mercer County. I never met David, but Arden was a friend when he was in Mercer County. He was a great influence on me. Knowing Arden, I am sure David was a kind and generous. My sympathies to the entire family.

I worked with Dave in the 80's. He was a great person to work with at the farm and also a great person to have as a friend when not at the farm. Fantastic guy taken away to soon. My deepest sympathy to his family and Dawn's family.

JUDITH A PROPER

Dawn and family, My sincere sympathy on the loss of your husband Dave. My fond memory of Dave is when you two came to Virginia to visit your son, Travis and his family and you took the time to visit me as well. Immediately I felt Dave was part of our family and we all had such a great visit. I took joy in showing you and Dave some sites in Richmond. Dawn, as you heal from your loss of your beloved Dave, you will find yourself ‘reaching for his hands that are not there,’ be appreciative of the days when those very hands of your loved one were there. Cherish in the warmth of the love you had for one another; for it is the love that stays behind. In that, he is never gone. Praying that the Lord will bless and give you strength during this sad time. My heart aches for you.

Dave always had the friendliest smile and was always willing to get on the floor and play with all the kids. My favorite memories of Dave were when he’d tell all me about how funny Brett was when he came to visit and Brett would often talk about all the gardening he did with Grandpa Dave and Grandma Dawn for days after visiting. Brett always knew Grandpa Dave was the one who was going to spoil him with cheese puffs! Dave was a pleasant conversationalist too, which I always liked about him. Dave will be missed!
