In Good Company

About 10 years ago I commuted from Erie to Maplewood High School to teach and coach.  The winter weather created some interesting trips to school and back home.  When the weather forecast would be treacherous I would call Grampa and ask if I could stay the night so I would not have to make the long commute back home.  Grandma would fix me dinner and they would both sit with me at the kitchen table.  We would talk about all types of things.  Grandma and Grandpa would bicker over the little things and I would always try to lighten the mood with a little joke here or there.  We would all have many laughs and then go to bed.  I would have to get up early to get ready for the day and Grandma would get up and fix breakfast and Grandpa would sit in his usual seat with his coffee and talk about the day ahead.  I really enjoyed those visits.  I will remember Grandpa from the days that he chased me with his dentures to the last visit that I had with him at the hospital and all the many memories in between.

With Love from your oldest grandson,

Josh
